I have had the crawler for about a year now and the right steering clutch was getting continually worse. The machine had sat idle for about three years before I got it. This is not a high time machine and in general is in really great shape. I had assumed that I had some leaky seals and the clutch plates had been oil contaminated, and or rust etc, had generally screwed it up. It was still possible to load logs onto my sawmill, with a lot of toing and froing!
It turns out that someone had rebuilt the clutch before and had not assembled it properly! None of the plates needed to be replaced, all were in like new shape. Replaced the throw out bearing, adjusted and set everything up to John Deere specs and it works great!
Absolutely amazing how much better two tracks are than one! Love playing in the dirt!!
