We have a 1978 450C dozer with water in the oil
I know it’s been covered but just need to confirm that a 4239 will swap easily with our 4219 T. Will all of the access, timing cover, fuel pump all work
Thanks in advance

Correction we have a 4219 T and would swap to a 4239 NA
Re: 4219T, 4239 swap
Depending on what the 4239 came out of the accessories may or may not be right for your crawler and may require swapping them over. The crank pulley may be different to drive your front pump, the thermostat housing/water outlet may have to change, water pump should be ok, depends if the belt drives are the same on both. The injection pump may need to be reworked/adjusted for service in a variable speed operation if it came from a stationary application. The non-turbo engine may not be equipped with the internal oil ports for piston cooling, it you intend to use the turbo. If the flywheel housing (the plate bolted right to the back of the engine) will need to be swapped over if the 4239 uses a different flywheel housing. That means a change of the rear main seal which now requires a special tool to install the current unitized rear main seal.
The base block should work, if the block sides look the same as yours. Somewhere along the way some stationary applications started using non-structural blocks. Your 4219 should be a structural block. The drawings below show the differences to look for on the left side of the block.
