I have a 1967 350 diesel (thank you Lavoy and TJ!!!!) and the throttle cable needs to be replaced. For the love of all things, how are you supposed to get this Rube Goldberg contraption disconnected from the throttle lever? The U bolt holding the cable to the firewall has multiple nuts and they are all tucked inside the bracket connected to the firewall. To say there is not much space is putting it mildly. I'm sure there is some key to this puzzle I am missing.
I can't even order a new cable while I wait because apparently the new part number comes in various lengths, and I need to measure the current cable. I think it is a 48" version, but I'm not sure. The way my luck has been going lately I know if I order one without measuring, it will be the wrong one.

Thanks for any tips.
