Hi JC Crawlers
Thanks for joining the group, appreciated it
I just bought a JD 450 wit serial number SNE 64050006480
Can anybody help me identify what exact model and year this is? and is it with dry or wet steering brakes?
I am also looking for the manual for this machine, would appreciate if somebody has it in pdf?

Hello Jesper, welcome to the board.
Unfortunately, your photos do not show for me. This site has a dedicated picture server, which you have to contact Lavoy (postmaster@jdcrawlers.com) and set up an account with user name and password to use. There is info about it on the Messageboard Q&A and Announcements Board, which you will find at the bottom of the board list when you are logged in. Some people do post photos without using the site’s picture server; however I can’t tell you the process they use. I will send you a PM through the site with an email you can send your photos to, and I will post these for you to get started, if you would like.
The actual machine serial number will be key to identifying your machine and things such as wet or dry clutches, without opening the compartments to check. Unless it turns out to be a late model 450B it will likely be dry clutches. There may be differences in serial numbering tags on your side of the pond however, the serial number you posted looks like the serial number for a 6405-dozer blade here. Where is this tag, you got the number from, located on the machine? If it is a 6405, the blade frame is mounted inside the tracks and is it 6 way hydraulically operated. In the States the main machine serial number tag will be on the panel below the seat, behind your right calf if you are setting in the seat. That was the location for all the straight 450s and the 450Bs up to serial number 142199. Starting with 450B serial number 142200 the tag is on the front of the battery box panel, pretty much in line of site as you mount on the left side.
You need to get the right identification before getting manuals. Service/technical and operators’ manuals are normally purchased items. There are a few on line but not many. John Deere does have most parts manuals on line we can use for free, I am not sure if the same access is available at your location. Click on this link to see if you can reach the parts catalog site. https://www.deere.com/en/parts-and-service/parts/. If it doesn't work, one of the European members here may have a different link, or you will need to check with your nearest JD dealer to see if they can tell you how to access, if available.
Hope this helps,
Jim
