350 reverser leak

Post by spiro » Wed May 18, 2016 8:43 pm

I've got a straight 350 with a bad reverser leak. It appears to be coming from the clutch pedal shaft. From the parts diagrams this looks to just be a stationary 7/8" solid pin that the pedal rotates on, but it's unclear as to how this mounts into the case or if there's an o-ring seal. Is it just a press fit into a blind hole? Which would mean I've got a cracked case?

I've seen much discussion here about the front (input) seal leaking into the bellhousing area but this seems to be behind that. Can one of you gurus educate me about what I'm seeing? I obviously don't want to pull the reverser unless I know I have to...

That pin is pressed onto the housing if I remember correctly, would seem odd that it could leak oil.

that's what I thought, very odd. I'll look at more closely.
