Serial # help

Post by Dan_in_AK » Thu Jul 03, 2014 2:35 pm

I have what I believe is a 450B 6-way blade. Everything points to it being a 450B, Non turbo, dry clutches, etc. It was re painted at some point, so there are no original markings.
I found the serial number where the manual said I would, but it is one digit short, and starts with a zero. I looked under the JD crawlers serial# info, and found nothing starting with zero. Kinda confused. Need to get the number right for ordering parts.
Anyone know whats going on?

Hi,

What are the rest of the digits? The later below 100k serials started with a zero. You know, when someone realized they would be using a leading one before long....

The entire serial number is T5F3M (space) 074233T
The parts guy said that I was missing a digit. I looked at the serial # info on this site, and nothing under the 450B starts with 0.

Hi,

This is what I thought. When they got up somewhere around 70,000 they added a leading zero because they knew a leading one was on the horizon. But, that leading zero never showed up in the lists.

Just drop the zero and you will be at the correct serial number. :)

So what are the major differences between the 450 and 450B? The technical manual I got is for the B model, I was told it was a B when I bought it....... :?

From a service manual standpoint I don't think that much, parts would be the main issue I would think.

Is there a complete serial num database somewhere I can look through? I need to be sure I'm ordering the right parts.
Thanks, and Happy Independence Day!!

Hi,

There is a list of serial numbers by year in the FAQ forum:

http://www.jdcrawlers.com/messageboard/ ... php?t=2415

For knowing exactly which parts change by serial number, one needs the Deere parts manual.
