Cracked block2-53

Well the initial report from the machine shop after finally getting one of the liners pressed out is that the block might be cracked

If this is indeed the case, any chance one of you might have a spare block available? As it is I'm almost afraid to think what one is going to cost.

Not exactly the sort of news I had been hoping for.

Anyway, if anyone has a spare block give me a shout.

Brad,
Sorry to hear the bad news. Being a sleeved block, is the crack somewhere that possibly could be repaired? I'm sure someone has come across this before. It's an intricate block but with the welding technology we have today maybe there's a possible fix. If the blocks were the same as a 2-71, there's a guy selling a bunch of gen sets on the internet using them. It's still a bummer.

This may be a long shot for you but check with a company called Riv-Rad you can find them on the web. I have used them for gamagoat parts. The "goat" uses the same block but in alumium.

click on the above link. site claims to have remanufactured 2-53 short blocks for $585 no exchange. try to talk to bryan fleming, about the only one there with half a brain. bought water pump and such from them. paid on the phone with a cc, they shipped cod. had to refuse it. the whole screwup took damn near a month to straighten out. on the other hand they did have it and they didn't mind dealing with me. small parts i get from the local dd dealer.
