I I have a hydraulic leak on the tilt of the front blade. its down in the box that holds the hydraulic piston does anybody know exactly how to get the piston out of the box on the blade I've looked it over but I'm not sure I would appreciate any help thank you
You can remove the cylinder by tilting the blade down to the right hand corner and pivot the blade to the right also. Then support the blade with blocks or jack stands to hold it up and in place. Make sure you have bled any remaining pressure on your lines by moving the control lever through all of the positions. Engine off of course!
There are two pins that hold the cylinder in place. One at the top or ram end and one at the bottom or the barrel end. They are held in place with roll pins that need to be removed first. Drive them out with a hammer and drift punch. Then remove the main pins.
If your cylinder still has the boot around it at the top, you will need to remove the clamp at least and sometimes you have to remove the entire boot.
Your cylinder should then be able to come out of the box. Then if need be, remove the hydraulic lines after removal.
Sense you say the leak is down in the box here is what you will probably find. These cylinders are famous for fittings coming loose or cracking. The steel line that feeds the bottom of the cylinder can be loose or cracked or it will have a worn spot from vibration.
I usually replace the steel line with a regular hydraulic hose. They seem to have less problems with leaks.
