350B Track Master Link Pin Picture Needed

Post by D.Light » Tue May 08, 2012 8:27 pm

Does anyone have a picture of a 350B track master pin?

I have searched and cannot seem to find the master pin on the track.

Thanks!

The original master pin has an enlarged head on one side and a snap ring on the other. It's basically just a big clevis pin that takes an external snap ring instead of a cotter pin.

Many of those original headed pins got replaced with the more modern 350C type pin. If so, there is NO head. The only identifier is a small dimple mark in the center. It's often plugged with dirt and you can't see it until you clean all the pins off.

Thanks jdemaris. I have tried to identify the master pin. So far, I cannot positively identify the master pins. I do have a couple of pins that have a very small dimple mark, but the dimples look more like they were made with a punch instead of being a machined into the pin.

I'll continue to look.

If anyone has a pic of the elusive pins, I would really like to see them.

Thanks again!

Nothing elusive about the masterpins in general. In your case. you need to know what you have. Your tracks might not even be Deere.

The headed pins are still available, even in replacement sealed tracks. The headless pins have a dimple mark and are available in standard size and oversize for 350Cs.

There is also the possiblity that somebody put your track together with a standard pin. It gets done often but is sometimes tack-welded in. Some aftermarket tracks don't even have masterpins.

Note if your track orginally had a headed masterpin - one link will have two raised flats where the pin head fit into. The head has two flats on it to keep it from turning.

Here are some photos/diagrams.

FYI, the early 2010s also used the headed master pins.
