Post by deereboy89 » Thu Jan 19, 2012 8:18 am

So im making the 7 hour drive to Ridgeway illinois this saturday to look at a 420 crawler with a 62 blade. Is there any gurus in the area who would want to take a look at it with me?
Thanks[/b][/i]

So i drove down took a bunch of pictures and a video or two. Now to see what you guys think. Theres a few things that concern me. The left clutch doesnt stop as well as the right. If you pull back on the right hand side itll stop and turn on a dime, the left will turn but not nearly as sharp or quickly. also as one of the pictures show, the left lever lays forward a little ways compared to the right. Is that a sign of anything? The tracks were redone 20 years ago when he bought and restored it and it hasnt done much since then but you can tell from looking at the undercarrige being as rusted and pitted as it is that it surely didnt have an easy life. Theres plenty of little things like the hoods not being fastned down right and the wiring being half way cobbled up... but thats not a huge deal. If i did it right this should be a link to the pictures and video i took. Let me know what you guys think. http://s1162.photobucket.com/albums/q532/dmanternach89/

Is this the only way to save our used / worn sprockets?

The loose bolt is one of the bolts that hold the undercarrige to the cross bars, not sure why its loose. So you wouldnt consider the half moons welded in there a big deal? They loook like hell but it will probably function just fine. Lastly i dont know much about that track adujustment. I see that there isnt alot of bolt left before the spring is streched all the way out. Is that about where it should be adjusted?

first the springs do not stretch they compress when you get a rock in the tracks..... it looks like they have a lot of adjustment left as you get wear you adjust the front idler foward to tighten...... so you would lossen the front nut and tighten the rear
