sticking clutches

Post by country53 » Sun Jul 24, 2011 4:38 pm

I own a 1977 IH 140, cultivating tractor, and the clutch sticks after setting a while. The clutch is the same mechanical concept as the JD 420C engine tranny clutch is there anything I can do to prevent this? I bought the tractor new in 1977 and its been well maintained and I don't know why all of a sudden it wants to stick.

As much as I hate the idea, you could tie the clutch pedal down to keep pressure off of the clutch disc.

Have you changed how or where you store the crawler? I noticed the engine clutch on my 8N sticking more after I moved to an outdoor storage location- I know try to keep tarped better.

Thanks for the thoughts, I always store it in a building although normal rainfall for us a year is around 40" we've already had 44"
Thanks again.
