thanks.

I want to thank the guys for the response to the previous questions on my 450c. Tell you how observant I am,I was looking around my 450c the other day. I finally got it started and had the boom all raised up and what did I see. I have a factory installed tank heater on the left side, amazing what you can find when you look. Funny thing the place I bought it from(they put in a new undercarriage, rebuilt the transmission, rebuilt the injector pump,) I asked them if it had a block heater, they said no,but they didn't tell me it had a tank heater.

It's a sharp looking 82, I gave 17k for it. What do you guys think of the price?

The good thing about this machine,we have a heavy equipment school in our city, they pick your machine up and only charge you their cost for the parts. A donation is all they asked. My wife retired from the school(she should have been a mechanic) so it makes it easier to get it in if you have problems.
Again, you guys have given me a lot of good information, and I really appreciate the info.

I keep an eye out for crawler loaders for sale in MO and it isn't out of line for a well-maintained 450C under a private or dealer sale. I know dealers like Zimmerman Tractor and Crown Power and Equipment sell those machines around that price. We like to see pics if you get a chance :)

I would be interested in knowing where that school is located in case it is close to me, if you don't feel uncomfortable doing so. I usually don't like to have others do my repair work but sounds like a very reasonable alternative if in a money crunch.

Do you have your 450C out today pushing this 8"-24"of snow we are getting today?

snow

Post by remley » Mon Feb 07, 2011 12:30 pm

I should be using it for the snow,we had about two feet. I'll wait until I can get my tractor down to the farm it's stays nice and warn inside the cab. I was down to the farm this morning took some corn for the Deer and Turkeys. At first I thought this may be a bad idea(about 1/2 mile of drifted snow) but the Ram 2500 got me out with just a little bit of wondering(if this was a good idea)
The name of the school is Linn technical College in Linn Mo. about 25 miles east of Jefferson City Mo.I don't know how far they would go to pick up a dozer for just the cost. They primarily work on Cats but they will do John Deere or so I was told. Caterpillar donates big bucks so they have a supply of mechanics familiar with their machines.

Thanks- I know of Linn Technical College and is a little too far for me now but it is interesting that they have that program. It would have been close enough for my crawler's former home (Vienna, MO).

I haven't tried starting my 2010 because it has been too cold and couldn't even check on it that easy because we got 20 inches of snow with up to 3 foot drifts at my farm. Of course this warmer weekend helped to melt some of it off but the remaing wet snow turned to ice with last night with the cold weather we are getting again.
