350 rail replacement

Post by S Dufore » Fri Dec 24, 2010 7:47 pm

Will the rails (Chains ) from a newer 440 ,4 bolt work on the 350 B ?
I may be able to get a very good deal on a 350 B .The pins and bushings are in bad shape.Part of the area on the chains where the pins go in are worn at the side. The links look like they have hit the roller sides.
I'm not sure what would cause them to wear in this area but they may not be worth having new pins and bushings installed.
I have a good set of rails I could use off my 440icd parts loader but if it will take alot of modification I'll just get new rails for the 350
Thanks
Merry Christmas
Steve

If you have that much pin boss wear, then the bottom rollers are shot. The 4 bolt rails you have on the 440 are most likely 1010 rails. Yes, they will fit, but will be kind of light, and may suffer more from breakage. Also, if your rollers are that shot, it will really be hammering on the 1010 rails. If your 1010 rails are nice shape, I would not trash them by running them on the 350 with worn rollers. 350 rails are normally readily available, but the supply has gotten real sporadic in the last year or two.
