I was inspecting my engine block and found that the bolt flange that sticks out towards the left side for the water pump mount is broken. It is broken half way through the bolt hole. This crawler was bought disassembled and I plan on working on it this winter. Any thoughts on how to repair that flange. Thanks. AdamP

cast repair
hi Adam,
reading your post i am not sure of your dilemma,,, if this is part of the block then it will be a tougher job.
i have successfully repaired cast pieces using a preheating (to red hot ) technique
[[ i use an acetylene torch with a carburizing flame,, the "carburizing " flame is important. ]]
and then hitting it with my wire feed welder,
, then keeping the "adjacent to weld area" hot ,, letting it cool as slow as possible ,,, such as burying the part in dirt or sand.
is it possible to post a picture of the thing , there are a few tricks i could add but ,, post me a pix so i can be precise.

I have never used the following products, I am simply offering an option. Looks like it works as well or better than some other methods, but I have yet to find out. I am sure I will when I need to repair something like you have.
