tach/hour meter

Post by apowalski » Mon Oct 04, 2010 2:06 pm

Why did they stop putting the tach in the 440c? I see that there is a stewart warner that can fit. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks AdamP.

I am not sure, Lavoy or some others may know for sure. But what I have seen is the 440IC would get a tach (maybe an option), but the 440ICD got an hour meter.

Tachs were an option, just like hour meters, depended on what you wanted. Not sure if diesel could have a tach, if not, must have been drive issue.

Lavoy,

That is what I have seen. I have never located a tach drive on a GM 2-53 out of the 440C.
I can see why JD did not go to the expense to design one, the GM 2-53 should only have two engine speeds, start up and then wide open the rest of the time.
