420c Throttle rod assembly.
Throttle handle removal accomplished
I thought you might find this interesting. Remember my comment saying that I was going to try coca cola for soaking the throttle rod. Well, it worked. I soaked it for about 4 days, and when done, all the rusted areas were shiny bright and clean. Apparently enough had gotten under the handle and rod to make for a 5 minute pounding and off it came. No heat was necessary.
I'd used coca cola many years ago to soak a speedometer cable from my old 53 Chevy pickup and I'd remembered that it cleaned up like new.
The other part which may be useful and save you some dollars is that I found some material that came from the flexible liner (not pvc or plastic) which used to be used in the fender walls of some older 60's/70's vehicles and cut 2 friction washers out of this. This material is very tough and will probably outlast any JD washers. Anyway, it's working great, and thanks for everyone's help with this.
