440 final drive gears

Post by JD440ICD » Wed Jan 25, 2006 6:22 pm

:? I looked at your Nov 1, 05 reply in the Tech Support on final drive ratios. I have a 440 ICD (suprise) with a broken final drive. The pinion has 14 broken teeth and the bull gear is to busted up to count. My parts book PC573, lists a 13 tooth and a 56 tooth for my SN. My question is why don't these come out right (the parts book, your info and what I have)? Also when you solve this mistery for me do you have any parts for it? I need a pinion, bull gear and oil pan. Thanks, Jay
Jay

Jay,
Diesel crawlers never used the 13/56 combination, only the late gassers had it.
I am short on used gears, but always have new available.

Do you have the right Parts Catalog. My 440ICD parts catalog says PC609. I got it from the John Deere Bookstore.

The PC573 is for the 440IC (gas powered) the PC609 is for the 440ICD (diesel powered) thats probably the difference in gear teeth numbers
