should the sleeve be flush to the face of the throw out bearing when properly installed? what's the function of the sleeve ? does it move with the t.o. brg?
steady progress by jerks.

saving a frozen 420c
parted a 40c to aid the salvage
bought another 420c in search for parts

There is a measurement in the service manual as to how far out is should be. Basically if you look in the tube, it should be about flush with the edge of the casting that holds it. If you drive it in too far, it will hit against the carrier and chew it up.
The sleve is what holds the throwout bearing as it slides in and out.
