Have located most of the main shaft gears for my 440 rebuild.
Question on the M/S Cluster Gear?
The one in the transmission now has a very small space between the two rowes of gear teeth.
My replacement although appearing correct hub to hub length and teeth count, has a larger space between teeth and moves the smaller diameter gear teeth toward the engine about 1/8 of an inch?
I also have the lower mating cluster gear for the M/S gear.
Looks like when laying M\S Cluster gear on top of the old it may still work...any advice or information?

440IC Gas Early Model Transmission Rebuild
The 440 parts book says I need an M 4195 T Cluster Gear.
I have an M 1688 T Cluster raised letters on back side.
Should I keep looking or try it?
Any ideas where I can find the right one?
thanks,
Scott

Scott,
Your 440 IC early model(440001- 448000 Ser.#) is a 5 speed? If that is correct then yes you need a M4195T first, sec cluster gear.
The M 1688T you have is for a early model 420 (up to ser#100000) firs, sec cluster gear in a 4 speed transmission.
Get Lavoy your serial number, 4 or 5 speed, large or small trany and see what he can find.
