I have a JD 450CA, serial # claims it to be a 1982. It has a 4 way clam shell loader and a 9300 hoe. My problem is how to get to the starter. My starter spins when I turn on the battery disconnect so I assume the solenoid contacts are stuck closed. I can't start engine because of this so how do I get in to the engine compartment with the loader on the ground? I do have a 23hp Kubota with a front loader which I attempted to lift the loader to no avail. (That thing is heavy!) Any replies appreciated.

Help with starter.
I agree with KenP on releasing the pressure and blocking the cylinders. I live in the woods and don't have another tractor so I use the trees. I wrap a chain around two trees about 12 feet apart and 15 feet off the ground and use a chain hoist suspended from the chain to lift the bucket or any thing else that is heavy on my machine. You may need to tow the machine into position.
Re: Help with starter.
Any reason why you can't just unhook the power-wire from the injection pump, and then . . . just let the engine crank while you raise the loader? I've raised many that way, just using the spin-force from the starter motor.indytriker wrote:I have a JD 450CA, serial # claims it to be a 1982. It has a 4 way clam shell loader and a 9300 hoe.
