420 steering clutch

The left steering clutch on one of my 420 crawlers is slipping, I have heard of putting in an extra fiber disc,has any one had any experence with this ? Larry

It may work, it may not work. I know I sell steering clutches, but I feel it is a total waste of time. It is too much work to pull final drives, why run the risk of having to do it all over again. Just got off the phone with someone that has pulled a 350 final 4 times after fooling with used parts, not the fifth time. The other consideration is the pressure plate springs may be weak, no amount of clutch discs will cure that, same thing if the fibers are oil soaked.

I understand about the preasure plate and oil soaked disc. Just curious about the extra disc

I missed a word in your post, I was thinking steel disc, you mentioned fiber disc. There is not enough room to add a fiber disc. If there is enough wear, you can get another steel disc in, but not a fiber.
I see by your signature line you have a few D4 scrapers, my brother had two of them.
