Deere 350ce wont go forward now

Post by jake » Sat Jan 31, 2009 8:03 am

there have been some issues with this machine when we got it. previous owner (brother in law) said when it stops pushing just change the hyd filter in it and it will be good to go again. last time i used it, it was pushing fairly well. i have a buddy that needed it to fix a oil field road and he was going to service it end to end to use it the fluid that came out of the section that the filter was in came out black, im waiting on a service manual for this but was told this is where the torque converter is and the back dip stick by your heel is for the final, of course the fluid that came out of the final looked like milk. after serviceing it, it was working real well for about an hour then just quit going forward but will backup. i cant remember what fluid he put in it i thought i remember the deere dealer saying it takes hygaurd, am i lookin at a burned up converter or burned up clutches? if so yall have a good source on parts?

Sounds like you'd better get your hands on a book. There is no torque converter. Sliding gear transmission coupled to a reverser with two clutch packs - forward and reverse. It's either fully engaged, or fully disengaged - with no inbetween and not torque converter.

One dipstick for the reveser, one dipstick for the gear trans, and several pipe-plugs down low to check finals.
