350 CE reverser removal questions
New here, couldnt find an answer in previous posts. A spring inside bell housing broke. Pulled engine, found the noise maker, no problem. But before spring broke reserver oil was ending up in final drive box. I am trying to pull reverser to get to seal but it doesnt seem to budge with all bolts out. Do you just disconnect steel tubing or do i need to take off small box where cluch linkage attaches. Thanks
Hello and welcome to the forum.
First things first, if you haven't already, get yourself a service manual, they are a must to have.
Some good news, you really don't need to pull your reverser apart from the transmission. If your output shaft seal is leaking, there should be a weep hole between the reverser and transmission that will indicate leakage there. There is an input shaft seal for the transmission as well.
Your machine has "wet" steering clutches. Typically when you gain transmission oil and loose reverser oil it is due to either leaking steering clutch pistons, or possibly the o-rings under the steering clutch valve ( they can leak into the ring gear cavity). There is a test you can perform with compressed air that will check the condition of your steering clutch lines and pistons, its outlined in the manual
Personally i would pull the steering clutch valve first (its under the seat) to check the condition of the o-rings. If you have leaky clutch pistons, you will need to pull your final drives off to get at them.

thanks. I guess i got some honest misinformation. I dropped my skid plate and there didnt seem the be any leaks. I guess i will get a spring and put it back together and just watch levels closly and maybe address true problem when i have more time. may just get a small pump to pump oil back to reverser. Thanks for your help
