JD 1010 reverser noise

Post by JD 1010 C » Sat Feb 26, 2011 11:23 am

Any suggestions would be a help. I've taken reverser apart thoroughly, put back together, I thought - correctly. New bearing seals were required. started it up and had noises coming from front end of reverser. Sounded like an old rattly throw-out bearing in an old tractor. Took it apart again, opened up the reverser, checked it out, found no problems that I could see, or any issues that would make this noise. Put it back again. Same noise! Thought maybe it was the drive disk - pulled it apart, ordered new drive disk, installed it. Re-assembled, put together again and same noise!! It doesn't change when it's in neutral, reverse, forward. - more pronounced when idling but still there at higher rpm. I'm having nightmares, and before I pull this again, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Note - all gears were checked, all bearings were checked and/or replaced, and proper amount of shims installed for clearance, disks are in A-1 shape???javascript:emoticon(':(')
