1010 reverser question

Post by RLAD » Sun Dec 04, 2005 10:30 am

My Dad just got a 1010C it seems to run good so far but, we do not have a operators manual with it . I have order one along with a shop manual on CD for 31.00 each from the local JD dealer it will take a few weeks to get here so he can't wait that long to get it rolling. So I have a few question if someone can help with the following. As far as I can tell it is a 1960 year model sn# 1113x. The shifter is on the dash and it has a reverser on the left. What does the reverser do and how does it operate? I see and have changed the oil filter along with the oil (JD 30 HD), but do not see a filter for the reverser where is it , where to put fluid and what type? I see only one hyd. oil tank and it is on the right side inside the frame next to the oil filter. Thank you for you help.

To use the reverser, just pull the lever back and you will be going the other direction. It is a full hydraulic reverser as opposed to a clutch type reverser like on 430/440.
Reverser uses Hy-Gard, filter is on the RH side, you will need to unbolt a dorky looking casting to get at it.

Thank you again for the reply. I will look at it and I am sure I will be getting some parts from you soon. Great web site. A lot of good info.
