New guy with a ??? JD Crawler

Post by Hartlyboy » Sun Apr 13, 2008 2:12 pm

Thanks for letting me join the site. I'm the new owner of what the last owner says is a 450C . Not sure about it though, I can't find a serial number except on the engine [R550TT over R55034]. It's got a turbo charged diesel, 6-way blade and wet clutches. It's also got a capacities decal on one of the sheet metal covers that refers to a 350B, so who knows? I'd like to sort it out so I can get the right manuals for it and know what kind of fluids to put in it. At this point, I'm draining all the fluids and putting new filters on , looking for leaks, etc. I know the tranny was low on fluid but so far have been unable to find anyone in the local Deere shop to tell me what goes in there. [They handle 'green stuff' , another branch does the 'yellow stuff'.]

So, for starters can anyone tell me what a 350 or 450 takes in the tranny box?

Wet steering clutches started with the C series - so it can't be older.

Trans takes any good combination transmission/hyraulic oil. Deere version is HyGuard.
