Post by angryacres » Sun Apr 13, 2008 7:57 am

i'm new to the board, but love my crawler. it's a 350 with a drott 4 in 1 bucket that works great. i was hoping to get the year my crawler was made so i could find service and operator manuals.
type number: t4e3d
serial number: 0730077

Angryacres: Year very seldom matters when searching for books or even parts for that matter. What matters is the serial #. All correct parts and information is determined by serial #. Incidentally, I wasn't able to locate that # in my book. Where did you find the #? We too are located in NY, and if you have any other questions feel free to contact me directly.

350 crawler-loaders ceased after the "C" series - and by that time the serial-numbers weren't half that high in the U.S. European models use a totally different number sequence.

If you machine is US - look closely at the number tag because something is wrong. Also - is it dry or wet steering clutch? 152, 164, or 179 diesel engine? If gas, it's old. Engine US or Saran, France? Track frames semi-solid mount or full-floating? There are many subtle differences all along the way from the 350 loaders to the 350C loaders. By the D series, the loaders were 355s.

Is it possible there is an extra zero in there, should be 73077?

As jdemaris said. The 350's never had a serial # that high. Are you getting the # off the engine or maybe the loader frame?

Alright mystery solved, turns out I'm a moron. What i thought was a 7, then a 1 turns out to have been a T, with an edge partly warn off. according to john deere that makes it made in June of 1968. Thanks for the help!!

Don't feel bad. I did exactly the same thing with my 300B I bought at auction a few weeks ago. I didn't have my glasses on - and mistook the T at the end for a 7. The one extra digit can really screw things up.
