Slipping (L) Drive clutch MC Dozer
Slipping (L) Drive clutch MC Dozer
Love my MC, but noticed that after running for awhile pulling left. Especialy while working on a incline. Is it posiable to do the job by yourself & does it require any special tools to replace or repair the drive clutchs? She has new track and rollers, belive the rear drives where also worked on before I got it. I use it to build ATV trails and need to fix it soon. Thanks for your input Mr. B Lorraine, NY
Slipping MC
Have a parts manual and a repair manual coming from e-bay purchased last year for me. Worked on a 350 and a case in High School before so will try and get it in the shop this weekend and pull the inspection cover to see if I can agust the free play. Have 8 feet of snow this winter and been using it to push back the banks and did not whant to tear it down until spring. Do you folks have a good place to order parts from? The local dealer can get some things and still like to get another set of points and cap. Thanks for your help. Anyone in up state NY? Have had some offers to sell but will pass this one on to my grandchildren. Mr. B

The job is pretty much one man, as long as you have a hoist or something of the sort. The final drives are pretty heavy and are no fun to do by yourself. The other thing you can check is make sure that there is a little bit of play between the throw-out bearing and the clutch fingers on the steering clutch. We had the throw-out adjusted too tight on ours and it started to slip.

MC Steering clutch & Ignition
Thanks for everyones help. I picked up my manuals and brought it in the shop to thaw out. The serial # put in the secound series of being built. The left handle is tight so hope its just a adjustment. I took down a hillside last year with alot of left pull so may of burned the clutch down. Manual says to flush everything before service using kerosene. Will deseal work? Noticed that my plug wires face out on the cap and the picture in the shop manual face in like I am 180 out. Having them in helps getting them out of the weather. Notch on the cap so distruibuter is 180 rite? Also the 6 volt positive goes to ground like the old Allis we had as a kid but the battery charger has to be hooked up backwards to work. Not much in the manual for that. Been 30 years since I worked on a 6volt. Will need some decals when I get ready to paint. I dont like the seat and like a wrap around one. It looke more like a yellow lawn seat that some one put on Have'nt figured out how to downloads pics yet. Thanks Mr. B
The steering clutch lever rotates three balls against the throwout. I've
had it happen where one of the three balls gets out of its depression, and
kept the clutch disengaged. Usually, this occurs when clutch is out of adjust-
ment, or worn out. After reassembly and adjustment, it worked fine. It's
not that bad of a job for one guy. Just take your time, and use lifting tools.
