455G How to get it to move?
I'm trying to recover this 455G. Is there a trick to get it to roll? I've got the parking lever in the "run" position and the gear lever in what I presume to be "neutral". I've given in a push with my CAT but it won't budge. It rolled backward a little bit when I lifted the bucket up but now it won't budge. Please advise. I've attached an image just in case I've misidentified this machine

Welcome to the Boards.
Not a trick to it, however there is a procedure. Before you yank on it anymore, get a copy of the Operator's Manual, it has a 3-page description of the things that need to be done to tow one of those to avoid damage to the drive train.
You can download and save a free copy of the Operator's manual (OMT163973) from the John Deere Construction and Forestry Bookstore. Here is a link to the bookstore.
https://www.johndeeretechinfo.com/
On that site type 455G on the model box. 455G should appear below the box you typed in, click on it then click on the search icon to the right of the Search Term box. That should bring up the list of the 455G manuals. The Operator's Manual has View Online and Download buttons to the left of the description, click the download box and it will download as a free pdf to your device which you can save (or there are purchase options for hard copies). You will need both technical manuals as the test & operation manual (TM1403) has testing and diagnostic info. The repair manual (TM1404) has the "wrenching" info.
You can use the parts book online at jdparts.com. Here is a link to it: https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/nav ... ment/61038
Edited to correct the parts catalog link.

Re: 455G How to get it to move?
I'm getting the 404 Not Found error but I'll try to find a workaround. Thank you
Re: 455G How to get it to move?
Ok. I've got the manual pulled up. You'll have to excuse me if the following questions are ignorant.
The manual says:
3. Pull each brake pedal to upper stop and then push
down park brake lockout pin. Release brake pedal;
lockout pin must stay down.
It doesn't show what the brake lockout pin is but I assume it will be obvious when I remove the cover on either side of the machine below the tanks. That said, what does it mean "release brake pedal"? Haven't I pulled them back? Do they release forward?
I've never operated something with pedals (all mine just have joysticks)

I don't have one (not have I done this procedure) so I can't tell you for certain.
You need to print the instructions off and have them with you.
Pull the pedal up to the stop, would mean just that to me.
Push down to the brake Lockout pin. I expect the pin must be visible or explained somewhere in the manual. It sounds like the pin will hold the brakes off if the pin stays down
Release the pedal would indicate you were to hold the pedal up until you have pushed the lockout pin, then let go of the pedal and the pin should stay down where you pushed it.
The steering clutches and brakes work when you push the pedals, which would equate to pulling the levers.

Got it. I'll give it a go this afternoon
Re: 455G How to get it to move?
450G’s have a bolt with a jam nut on each side of the clutch housing. To roll them, you loosen the jam nut and screw the bolt out? Or in? Now I can’t remember to let the brakes completely off. Then it should roll. I think the 455’s might be the same but can’t be certain as I have not been around one. HTH
Re: 455G How to get it to move?
The operator's manual gives him the information he needs. It looked fairly simple like only two pins are involved, no nuts to turn, other than maybe opening panels for access. Hopefully he lets us know how things worked out.
Re: 455G How to get it to move?
@B_Town is correct. I think the "pin" referenced in the manual was that bolt. Its kept in the up position with the jam nut. Was very obvious once I took the cover plates off either side. Just had to loosen the jam nut, then run the bolt down all the way. Rolled nice and easy.
The crawler is safely at its new home! Now to go get another one for parts haha
Edit: just some additional info, in case someone sees this and happens to wonder, while the pins were down, the pedals did nothing. I pulled it around with my skid loader and was unable to get it to steer.

Re: 455G How to get it to move?
Good to hear you got it. I am wondering if the later ones had pins and they updated the manual and deleted info on bolts.
Re: 455G How to get it to move?
That could be. According to the serial index in the FAQs, this one is one of the earliest G series
