Have you checked the compression? You may have a valve problem. Set the points, loosen the distributor, point the timing light at the mark on the crank pulley or flywheel and twist the distributor. If you have a manual,it will give you the point gap and where the timing marks are located. gregjo1948

Ill check the compression. Just had the head redone the points seem to be in order. Just won't run

Do you have spark at the plugs and fuel to the carb? gregjo1948

Yep. I have everything. I'm not 100% on the plug wires being right. But it just keeps back firing through the carb.

If you had the head done, valves shouldn't be a problem. The back fire thru the carb may be the wrong plug wiring sequence. Sounds like it's sparking with an open intake valve. Not sure on sequence, but I'm thinking, 1342. gregjo1948

Lack of compression is why it's not running for sure. The next question is, why the poor compression? If your firing thru the carb, , it's probably not a compression issue. Check valve timing and valve clearance. gregjo1948
