Good morning. We have a 350B. It has developed a hydraulic leak (not engine oil) and it appears to be coming from between the engine, and the bell housing. It appears to even be coming from the starter... Are there lines that run through this area, or is it most likely the front seal from the pump (Assuming there is a hydro-static drive behind a clutch assembly?
Any help from the knowledge base is appreciated.
All the Best!
Bill

If you search the archives on this site there should be several posts on this subject already. That being said your issue will most likely be the front seal on the reverser. The seal is mounted in the reverser pump housing and is relatively easy to change. Other than you will have to pull the motor to get to it. That's the good news.
The bad news is the input shaft bearing. If you have any movement up and down on that shaft, especially with the pump off of the unit, then you will have to pull the reverser because that bearing will be toast. If you don't go ahead and fix this issue, then you stand the chance of really messing things up. When these bearings go completely out they will weld themselves to the end of the intermediate shaft as well as ruining the forward clutch quill. Which is part of the input shaft. It is all one piece. This isn't good news and I'm sorry. But it does happen pretty commonly on these 350s.
