67’ JD350: Drooling diesel, from the engine?

Post by PBibens » Tue Jun 02, 2026 1:19 am

Howdy,
It’s drooling diesel, basically. I noticed it, because was using too much fuel. Looks like there’s a gasket between the manifold and/or it might be the head gasket. Runs great, but the price of diesel out of this world, I don’t want it to be leaking fuel. 😅😵💫

I’m from California above Sacramento…… halfway to Tahoe.

Probably either a return line leaking, a supply line leaking, or and injector leaking. All are an easy fix. Take the hood off and look for wet places above the manifold. That will likely narrow the area for you. Start the engine and watch for active leaks.

Since you say it runs great my bet would be on the fuel return line.

You’ll likely need to purchase a couple of feet of fuel line and some small hose clamps. Be careful getting the old fuel lines off the T shaped fittings…they’re easy to break if the fuel line is pulled in the wrong direction.

Good luck
