440ic Throttle shaft/

Post by GalenB » Tue Apr 22, 2025 8:46 am

For reference: page 19 of the 440IC https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/sid ... Id/2402752

I've got a gas 440ic, and I need to replace the throttle shaft bracket (part 14) that mounts to the water jacket on the front left top of the engine. That bracket was cracked and welded, and has now cracked around the bolt holes. I have a bracket, and have removed the shaft (part 11) from the back of the throttle lever . I can't seem to removed the shaft from the u joint. Mine looks a little different, and may be missing some of the spring parts, but it works. I can see a recess on one side where it looks like about an 1/8" solid pin is inserted, and on the other side is just a pin prick. I don't know if that's a tapered pin, but it's hard as heck. Any advice for removing that so I can slide the new bracket on would be greatly appreciated. Need to get this going asap.

Thanks
