I did search old posts first, but that left me a bit confused.
For a 5 roller 1010 track, should all the button head fittings get Cord Head grease? It's only some of the much older machines that get something different?

Re: 1010 roller/idler grease
Operator's Manual says SAE140 gear oil above 32 degrees F and SAE 80 below 32. How well it stays in the rollers depends on how good the seals are. Many use CORN head grease year-round if the seals are bad, regular grease if really bad. You want to use a low-pressure grease gun and don't force it when pressure is felt to avoid blowing out what seals may be left.
If you see any place a manual for JD equipment calls out using "John Deere 303 Special Purpose Oil", it is no longer available, and any aftermarket 303 oil is not to be used. JD Hy Gard is the current replacement. Aftermarket oils to be used in place of Hy Gard needs to say it meets of exceeds spec (JDM) J20C.

Re: 1010 roller/idler grease
Track and Roller grease became the substitute for GL5 quite a while back, but then Deere discontinued it. Best alternative is corn head grease, it's easy to come by.

Re: 1010 roller/idler grease
Hi,
Actually, there isn't much difference between the old Deere Track & Roller and the current Corn Head greases. NLGI 0 weight. Sits like a grease until things move, then flows like a heavy oil.
There is the Deere Cotton Picker Spindle Grease. That's thinner, being NLGI 00 weight. If your seals are good, it'll stay in. Well, you can tell. If the lube comes out all over the track pads on the inside of the frame, you need a heavier lubricant.
I wouldn't use normal chassis grease, NLGI 2 weight. It's too thick, really.
