450 HLR Pressure Setting

Post by dniceboater » Sun Oct 06, 2024 9:55 am

Purchased an old 450 dozer three months ago. The dozer does not push loads at times--just stops moving. Shifts fine and turns left and right. I am looking to confirm the pressure setting in the transmssion--is 185 psi for all models? I have not adjusted the pressure at the right side under the rubber cap but did turn the bolt on the left side under the rubber cap 1/2 turn clockwise and this helped for two days of operation.

I am also lookikng for a source for a technical service manual.

Welcome to the Boards.

I don't have a 450 Service Manual (John Deere publication SM2064), so I am not going to try to say what the actual pressure called for was. It sounds like that is about right.

You can call (701-361-1006 during CST business hours) or email (postmaster@jdcrawlers.com) Lavoy to see if he can get a manual for you. He sells and works on older JD crawlers and has some things for the newer ones like the 450. He provides this site for us to use so it is good to support him when possible. You can use that publication number to search places like eBay for used OEM manuals.

You may find a moderator moved this thread (or will) over to the Late Models Board, as that is where the 350s. 450s, and newer models are posted.

Thanks, Jim for your response.

I will also try and get the posts in the right spot next time.
