old 450 won't move
old 450 won't move
Long story short i have an old 450,not a B model it's a straight jd450. Got it stuck in a small branch and water got up to the top of the tracks and it stopped pulling. Got it winched out and now it wont pull/move. With the engine running i can see down around the steering brake drums and its spinning. Does that mean my engib=ne drive clutch isn't slipping? Anyone have any advice what to check? Thanks
Re: old 450 won't move
If there is water/stuff/mud in the steering clutch housing, this will cause the steering clutches to slip. Your machine is a dry steering clutch housing machine. Any contamination will disable the clutches. So if water was over both housings, I would say you are going to need to tear down, clean out, rebuild to have good trustworthy machine. Lots of anecdotal info on washing out with cleaners and diesel………this just causes further contamination. I recommend owners manual and service manual. I also like having part books on hand but they are available on-line
