Model Identifacation and part number for cylinder seal kit

I am borrowing a 450 hi lift from a friend whose husband owned this when he was alive, I have the manual and it says 450 on it, so I assume it is just a 450 and not a 450 c/d etc. The number on the side of the machine also just says 450. I got the machine running but the right lift cylinder is leaking pretty good and I would like to replace the seal. I googled seal kits for the cylinder and I found one, so should I feel comfortable buying it or are there multiple sizes for different variations of 450's?

You're going to have to take the cylinder apart anyway ... why not now, and measure the orings? The $50 kit is probably nothing but $5 worth of orings.

I'm not near where the dozer is and when it gets moved to my property I was hoping to have the parts available.

when I do the cylinders on my john deere equipment i replace what is needed to stop the leak which is the rod packing seals wiper seal packing gland o- ring and backup usually buy direct from JD 75.00 if you buy the seat kit from deere 231.00 just what I have done in the past and works for me and saves money

Assuming it is a 450 from the info you have, it is a 7450 series loader. During those years the crawler itself and the loader attachments each had their own parts catalog. You can get the John Deere part number for the seal kit from the parts catalog and use that to narrow your search. One seal kit is shown for a boom cylinder in the parts catalog I posted the link for. Several different kits are shown in the parts catalogs for models after the 450 Loader. Lavoy sells parts, you might contact him via email: postmaster@jdcrawlers.com, to see if he can supply a kit. His business provides this site for our use.

The serial number for 450 crawlers and early 450Bs is on the panel below the seat, about behind the operator's right calf when setting in the seat. Later 450Bs, and 450 series after that, had the crawler serial number tag on the front panel of the battery box. Some 450 loaders had a tag for the loader itself, to the right of the crawler's instrument panel.
