440 ICD Pins and Bushings

The pins and bushings on my 440ICD are shot. The track adjuster on the left is way out and I can barely keep the track on. Plus it has some serious snaking.

I called Nortrax to see what it would cost to re-pin and bush the rails. They said IF I could get the pins and bushings then the labor would be ..... $3,800!

Wow! Figuring out my alternative....

For that kind of money you should scrap what you have and do a 350 upgrade. Price everything out for a straight 350, you may have to remove a link. I got pricing for under 3800.00 for new sprocket rims, pads, chain, nuts and bolts a few months ago.

Send me a PM with your email address and I'll email you the quote. All of the 350's rails are the same except for the number of links. The single grouser pads are a four bolt pad instead of the two bolt pads which have not been made for many, many, many years! The 350's bushings are slightly larger in diameter so that's why you need new sprockets. The pin to pin distances are the same as your 440. The 350 sprockets will not bolt on, they offer sprocket rims which are the outer most part of the sprocket. You will have to torch off the outer edge of your sprocket and weld on the new rim.

That's about what I paid for my 420 tracks a few years ago here in VT. Unfortunately the person who did the job for me is no longer taking on outside work. There are some talented East coast rebuilders on this board who might be able to give you a lead or two. Good luck. Paul

Thank you! I'm going to see what it would cost to change to 350 tracks but truthfully the sprockets are not badly worn or asymmetric so it may be better to pin and bush. It's a farm machine that isn't going to see tons of time.

I have an early 2010 here that I still need to fix and I may borrow the tracks from it in the short term. They were replaced and have very little time on them.

This way I can finish my fall project and deal with disassembly on my own time....

Well, that won't work. The 2010 has 39 pads.
I took the left track off the 440 and inspected it. There is not much to work with anymore. The rails are only 2 7/8 inches high. The bushings are worn through. At least I know what I have to do.

Converting to 350 is in the $3500 and up range last I did any checking, and that is assuming you can cut and weld the rims on yourself. Last rims I knew were available were Berco, and has to have them machined to even make the hole round. Far as I know they are out of production, not sure who makes them now.
I think I have a set of good 440 rails that I can rebush for you, might be another option.

I sent you an email too. Henderson Mfg lists a 350 sprocket rim on their website, I don't know if it's available. I came to the conclusion that switching would be about $3,500 too.

I'll take you up on those 440 rails!
I'll replace the pad bolts and refurbish the pads.
My left track has 36 and the right only has 35 on a 5 roller track so I will need to source one pad....
