I've been a long time follower of this site, finally came across a '56 420c that was in my price range, that I picked up and just began to work on.
The engine runs, I'm working the bugs out, carb rebuild, new points, condensor, wires, fluid change, got to clean out the gas tank, fuel strainer, etc. Need to cork bush the throttle lever as it won't stay in position. Both steering clutches are stuck, so that will be some work. Undercarriage is usable, bushings are not worn through, as a hobby dozer, it should last me for some time.
My question is I want to remove the grill guard, it has 3 of the 4 bolts in the lower bolster position that hold the guard.
I've sprayed pb blaster on them, but don't want to crack the cast bolster.
What is the best/cautious way to remove the bolts?
Appreciate this site, look forward to sharing my progress.
Thanks.
Gary
