John deere 420 c Main clutch
Hi I have a 1956 420 crawler I need to replace the main engine clutch was wondering if there is a diffrence between the cushion clutch and a solid clutch the service manual says crawler models use solid clutch but I don't see them forsale with a solid clutch disc any were so my question is will I have any issues with running a cushion clutch in my crawler thanks tim[/b]
There are no cushioned pressure plates any more, but still run a solid disc. May not have a problem, but there is a reason the factory did not use them.
Solid discs are readily available, I just got 3 in yesterday.

Hi,
If you get to really digging, the machine tends to buck with the cushioned ones.
