Wanted: Ripper to fit JD 350B

I just bought a 350B with a 6way blade and winch on it. I am planning on digging some small ponds on my property and I dont think the 350B will be able to cut the thick red clay here. I previously rented a newer jd450J when building the road and electric line easement into my property and the clay would stop it dead in its tracks if you got more than 1-2" bite.

So, I know that I am going to need a ripper to loosen the ground.

Anyone have one they are wanting to sell?

Has anyone seen any ripper attachements that will work with the winch still in place? It looks like I could build one that attaches to the outside or straddles the winch.

Any other ideals for loosening the ground for digging?

Nope, its been so dry here that most of the ponds are dry. Last summer I had cracks in the ground 2"+ wide LOL We got some moisture about a month ago from a good wet snow but we are still way behind.

I've been wondering around S. Ks. and Oklahoma, off and on, the last few years buying oilfield pipe.

If the ground is still as hard as what I saw....I'd give some thought to homemade exposives.

Last trip south...hay was going south and cows were going north.

Drought did finally move as far north as Des Moines last year...everyone is holding their breath for this coming season.

True on the hard ground....thankfully not many rocks to cement together LOL I had a guy come in with a 1150 Case dozer with a laser level on it to level my house pad. This is a pretty big dozer (120HP & 27000 lbs) and he still had to use rippers to loosen that clay up before he could work it

When I first bought the place I bought a little 220 Massey Ferguson tractor with box blade and front end loader on it. I went down and bought a set of ripper shanks for the box blade to so I could level ground with it.....what a joke, the rippers go 2" deep and the tractor just sits in place spinning LOL

I'm taking you further off topic, however,..we've been there regarding dealing with soil when it won't bend to a person's needs too.

Can you get an old mold-board plow into the pond area your want to loosen?

We have, and use, a 3-point, deep sunsoiler with our ag tractors. Works great, and can bring a 125HP rubber-tired machine to a dead stop in one grunt. I feather the depth and keep my IH in Low/Low.

Am thinking the shanks may go as deep as 30".

A couple of options I'm throwing out.

Maybe you need to look for a scarfier, subsoiler or rootplow that will mount on your blade at the front of the tractor. And use it to break things up.
