Hey Lavoy, saw this story today and was wondering what impacts you think it will have on your area beyond the recent flooding:

Not to argue with the weather service, but they are the only ones predicting that kind of odds. The mayor has it at maybe 10% or maybe higher since the last snow, and he has been right more times in the last 30 years than they have. We also went into last fall the driest we have been in probably a dozen years if not more.
Rain is of course the big unknown, 10" of rain is a real game changer if it hits at the wrong time, and some of the long term forecasts have us in for a cool wetter spring, so who knows.

Here is Saskatchewan much of the south half of our province drains into the Red River Valley. Last year I golfed in March. This year we have 6 feet of snow on average in and around Saskatoon. (here it drains locally into the South Saskatchewan River) The real bad news for anyone in the Red River Valley is that just a bit south of here, in the huge Red River watershed.... a lot of places have even more snow than here. As well, none of it has melted yet! We have not had a snow year this big over such a large area of Saskatchewan as long as anyone here can remember. So it looks nasty for those in the Red River Valley. At least another week before the forecast shows daytime highs over the melting point. So you may get all this snow melt in a short melt season. Not a good recipe for good drainage.
