leaking hydraulic hose fitting

Post by rcs110 » Sat Apr 07, 2012 11:10 am

would any one know if there is a o ring in the fitting coming from the pump right side as you look at it from front . hose screws into fitting and then fitting is screwed into pump. leaking from where both come together.
have not taken a part yet still wait for service manual to come.

So what are you working on dude? What machine? Have you checked to see if the fitting is just loose? You might try to tighten it. But if that isn't it and if I was to guess, it would be a cracked fitting where the two are screwed together. Or someone has over tightened them and messed the mating seats up.
But I need to know what machine you are working on so I'll know what kind of fittings you have. Make sense? :D

You won't find o rings on older crawlers like that and even the newer o ringed fittings aren't any better than the older stuff It is a snake oil piece of mind sales gimmick as far as leaks go if the fitting is proper and tight it will not need an o ring to seal steel on steel at the proper angle should suffice at 3000 lbs pressure or even 6000 lbs pressure it won't matter what pressure you put on the system if the fitting fits proper make sure you have proper threads on the right fittings this is all it should take .Digitup.

That is in the pump housing and yes it will be an o ring in there any place there is cast housing like that there will an o ring.the problem with those o rings is they get heat from the pump and they crack and go hard so replace that one for sure.Digitup.

Sorry, let me try this again.... I screwed up.... The fittings have "Seats" that mate together. They are either damaged as in mashed to the point they are leaking or the pump fitting seat is cracked. If it is leaking at the pump side of the fitting then it can be the o-ring.

I would just go to a Deere dealer and get it. It will come with a new o-ring already installed. And you will have the right fitting and no hassles!... Hopefully!
