can someone tell me how to get the tach drive gear out of the end of the camshaft? I have pulled the engine and removed the rear cover to expose it but it won't budge.

Assuming you have a 350 C, original camshafts have the tach drive gear pressed into the end of the camshaft, almost like a dowel pin. The replacement camshafts use a different tach drive gear that is threaded into the camshaft.
