40c tracks

Post by mat » Tue Apr 18, 2006 11:07 am

i just purchased 40c ser # 68632 (1955). I cannot find what the correct # of links the tracks should have for a 4 roller crawler, the spockets need replaced and my measurements don't match any specs I've found so far I'm beginning to think the tracks and sprockets that are on are wrong. does any one have this information and where can i buy parts used or new which i'm also having trouble with.

Not sure what measurements you are finding for sprockets, etc, but you should be looking for parts based on part numbers, not just measurements.
4 roller crawler will have either 31 or 32 links depending on which front idler you have.
If you have not already, purchase a factory parts manual, and service manual, they will answer many questions.
Evidently you surfed directly into the message board. At the top of the page is a link to the main site, there you will find a PARTS page that has some of my new parts listed. If you need something you don't see there, give me a call, or e-mail.

Mat, I am going to pick-up my first crawler today. A 40 serial # 68083. Not sure what all I will need to get it going. It was under a shed for the last 6 years. I spent most of yerterday getting it running. The running gear seems ok.

I am sure I will need a lot of help.

When I raised the blade, it blew the hose. I hope it was just old age.

Good luck with yours.
