Proper Asking Price for 1984 350C
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but I'm hoping you can help.
My uncle ran a construction business for many years and he died last year.
A few days ago his wife called and asked if I'd look up on the internet how much his JD crawler might be worth so she would know how to price it.
I couldn't find much information on it - just earlier and later models - and then I found this site.
The crawler is a 1984 350C, with a winch, canopy, and 3,000 hours. It had a brand new motor put in in 2005.
Would anyone have any suggestions for her on what it might be worth?
Thanks.

It really depends on the overall track conditions and the conditions of the unit at this point .Some guys go nuts over crawler loaders and others like myself don't have much call for one A six way blade is worth more to me than a loader bucket.but that unit could go for 6 to9 G They might even go a bit higher depending on track conditions .Older crawlers are priced by there undercarage conditions and track whear %Your local Deere dealer can give you percentage whear on a crawler for very little or any good track shop can do the same thing .Digitup.
Unfortunately I'm going to give you the stock answer. Anywhere between $2000 and $12000 depending on condition. You really have to check these things over to get a good idea on price. That and geographic location makes a big difference on equipment prices. I know I'd be weary of purchasing a crawler that had a new motor installed with only 3000 hours on the machine.
I know that's not what you were hoping on hearing. My advise would be to look at rockanddirt.com and get some auction averages then try and find someone nearby that buys and sells equipment and have them take a look.

Thanks for the feedback. I just checked the Rock&Dirt site. I couldn’t find anything between 1970 and 1990 for auction results, but did find one listing for a 1977 model for $9,000.
That’s similar to what I found on Machinery Trader a few days ago. But there, as well, I couldn’t find any models from the 80’s.

Check the Ritchie Brothers Auction website- www.rbauctions.com . They keep a database of all auction results within the last 12 months worldwide. You will have to register to use the auction results portion of their website, but it's free.
EDIT: I am sitting in an airport so checked for you. They had a 350C loader go for $3K. They had three 350CE dozers go between $7K and $9K. As a general rule, you can expect auctions to bring about half of the value when sold privately, but just depends.
As previously stated, values for construction equipment vary by region, condition, etc. just like autos do.
