John Deere 40C with Rear Trencher on E-bay
There is an interesting John Deere 40 with a scoop type trencher listed on e-bay. Auction/Item Number: 220608189945. Its listed under 40C, so you can also type in "Deere 40C" in the search box to find it.
Have never seen a John Deere with that type of setup on the back, I imagine it was in the time period when outside suppliers were the main sources of attachments/equipment. The listing says its the "Universal Trencher" Company.
Worth a look just for the pictures!

Most interesting unit, thanks for posting.
You can't beat the $15.00 shipping cost, but I am not sure my current mail box could take the weight.

Hi,
Ha! All this old stuff would give an OSHA inspector nightmares!
This one, he'd faint dead away!
I'm feeling woozy myself, sitting here thinking about getting that on and off the trailer, much less *using* it, with that sidesaddle control scheme!
later!
Stan

I totally agree with the safety concerns. However, no easier way to operate a machine with front and rear implements than side saddle.
I wish I had a side saddle on the tractors I ran when I was younger. My neck would kill me after trying to twist it around all day looking behind.
