I just bought a non-running JD-350 diesel dozer as-is, where-is. I've got fuel to the (CBC) injector pump but not to the nozzles. I'm hoping it's just the shut-off solenoid. I put power directly to it and don't hear it clicking.
I suppose I could R&R it, leaving out the plunger to see if it'll run w/o it. I see these solenoids are available for about $126 (eBay). What're the chances that this could be the whole problem? I really don't feel like putting $126 into an obsolete pump that may be otherwise un"rebuildable". Will a generic fuel shut-off solenoid/valve in the injection pump supply line work *almost* as well?
can the solenoid be pulled without removing the whole pump? Does it just screw in from the outside? I've yet to get the manuals - is there a cheaper/better source than JD or deerelydeparted?
thanks in advance for any suggestions or comments. This site is a wonderful resource - I've been going thru it for days...

thanks. I'll definitely be getting all the manuals (operators, service, parts, pumps). Just trying to get it running so I can get it to my shop and look into it further. It fires on ether no problem. I think I'm just going to pull the solenoid plunger and install some sort of external fuel shutoff until I can get it running and assure myself the pump head's ok.
I may not get a chance to play with this much for awhile, I've got some other projects higher priority. Just had to pick this machine up on an impulse, it *may* be a good deal - we'll see...
