450C

Post by Ed Vanden Brand » Tue Sep 15, 2009 3:47 pm

I have a 450C crawler. I change the rad & water pump on it and now when I fire it up the antifreeze bubbles out of the top of the rad. The machine does not blow white and the oil is nice and clean(no antifreeze) I did put a new thermostat and hoses on as well. Any ideas? I am not a mechanic and did the work myself, I did double check and the thermostat is in the correct way. Thanks for any help.

when you say bubbles,is it a small amount of bubbles,or a surge of anti freeze out of the radiator?
was the machine doing this before you worked on it,or did it start afterwards?
bubbles and surging out of the of the radiator is most always a head gasket issue, but you may have done something when you changed the water pump.
I once changed a water pump on a 350 chevy, the truck would boil over within five minutes,I double and triple checked everything....still overheating.
A week of cursing, wrenching, broken knuckles I finally firgured it out,I had a serpentine water pump mounted on a v belt motor...pump turns in the other direction,I was not happy with the parts store!!

Check your head gasket that is probably the culprit see if you have white smoke from the exhaust after sitting a while Check the exhaust for moisture and carbon then don't mess around you can get up enough pressure to collapse the rad tubes if you don't blow a rad hose doing this install a rad pressure tester and if your pressure goes high start pulling the head .Digitup .
