loader concerns

Post by lathenmillbill » Sat Feb 07, 2009 6:30 am

I have a JD 40 crawler (4-roll) and a loader off of a JD 420 crawler.
I want to put the loader on my crawler but was told there would be several problems. (1) the 40's hydraulics wouldn't power the loader, and
(2) loaders can't be mounted on 4-roll crawlers because it would tip forward. Is this the case or had someone tried this with success?

Yes, all of the above, plus it will most likely break the trackframes off at the front crossbar and it will be so unstable as to be almost scary. Loaders must be on 5 roller crawler with rockguards, and really should be on a 420. The trackframes are lighter on a 40, and the horsepower difference will make it kind of a dog.
There were some nice light loaders that would work well on a 5 roller 40, but might be hard to find.

Thanks very much for the confirmation. Saved me a lot of work - among other things.
